So now that I have finally figured out how this blog thing works I will try to keep you all updated on my adventures in NYC...
These past two weeks I have learned more than in the past three years of college. I have pretty much mastered the subway system (thank the gods for all of the subway apps and maps for the iphone), I have learned so much at my internship-thanks to my amazing supervisor/friend Ashli, and I learned how to make sweet potato fries using only egg whites thanks to my mom, Meg! I have my ADPi sisters to keep me company on the weekends and to celebrate Thursday nights. I learned the hard way it's not that easy to celebrate the almost weekend when you are working 8:30-6:30 Monday-Friday.
I have learned that you don't do happy hour on 54th & 5th because its convenient all because I didn't want to walk any further because my heels were starting to hurt. I am quickly learning that Yelp and hopstop are the keys to a budget friendly happiness. At The Crocodile Lounge you can get a free pizza for every beer you buy, Bar Still has $3 bud light drafts until 10pm, and not to scream on the sidewalk because a pigeon is near you (they aren't afraid of you but they wont bother you if you just walk around them-I'm still getting used to the dog sized birds). Oh! And it's totally normal for people to have their lives in a shopping cart and eat directly out of the garbage can...not sure if I'll ever get used to that one. Oh and pay attention on the subway-listening to music and being sucked into the addictive iPhone app piperoll will be the leading cause of you to miss your stop.
Anyway, today was the first day of market week and it went rather smoothly. Tomorrow may be another story with the zillion appointments we have booked and the fact I have to be there two hours early. Wowza!
Anyway, as my brother keeps telling me "all of this hard work will pay off better than any paycheck could right now." I know he's right but I wanna tell him to try telling that one to dad and UMB bank.
Until tomorrow...
